Daily Quote: “The stars, I see, will kiss the valleys first: The odds for high and low’s alike” William Shakespeare.
This statement may sound contradictory. However, taking this concept to heart could be a very good move. What it means is that you put a huge amount of effort into pursuing your goal and then let it do it’s own thing. It’s a bit like nurturing a good roast in the oven.
The reason for this sound bit of advice is that you do not always have control over the outcome. You might push a major energy blast into part of your success plan and find it gets you to somewhere totally different to where you thought it would.
If you hang onto the outcome that you had wished for you might get disappointed and give up. You might also miss out on the opportunity that is presented in its stead. Let go of what you perceive to be the ideal outcome. What’s presented to you could be so much better.
If you are, as an example, studying for a board exam to become an accountant and you put enormous effort into your preparation time and end up failing you could be floored by disappointment.
However, the learning you have done and work you put into this is never wasted. You might not have received your certificate but you did acquire the knowledge. This might make you pause and wonder what it is you really want in life. If you still want to continue, then study again.
Alternatively you might realise that the reason you failed was not because of a lack of preparation but because you really didn’t want to become an accountant. You might be able to stop yourself from a career move that could have been all wrong.
You might have been studying accountancy because your father always wanted you to become a professional. But as you were studying and working you realised more and more that this was not the career for you but nevertheless felt obliged to continue. Failing the exam could be a red flag of warning. Get out now before it’s too late.
Whatever the reason for not achieving the anticipated results, it is easier for your life journey if you do not put expectations to the outcome. Your disappointment could end up holding you back. It might even destroy your ability to achieve any goal in the future.
There are many people and you might find yourself reflecting on something in your life as well, who have stopped trying because a failure after much effort made them give up. Have you given up on a goal because your huge amount of energy and passion went unrewarded?
It might have been something small such as trying at age nine to come first in class for spelling in the hope of entering the spelling competition. You worked hard on it for months but did not make the cut. That disappointment led you to give up on learning how to spell and you never became the writer you thought you might have been.
It’s a great concept to put your heart into a project but stand back to see what the results will be. It will mean that you will always catch the positive results whatever they might be.
