Asking For Help Is Not As Difficult As It Seems

11168---American-Mail-Boxweb_FullDaily Quote: “He who is afraid of asking is ashamed of learning.” Danish Proverb.

Asking somebody for help is the easiest way of ensuring that you will be able to attain your goals. Yet most people find it extremely difficult to do this. It seems that people don’t want to look helpless or in need of assistance.

But mostly people hate to ask for help because they think they are going to get rejected. People are frightened that people will turn around and refuse to help them. So people don’t ask. They would rather not have help than stand a miniscule chance of having their request refused.

Weekend Humor – Funny One Liners

www.selfalot.comDaily Quote: “The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on.” Robert Bloch

1. I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn’t work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

2. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

3. I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather.. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

4. Sex is not the answer. Sex is the question. “Yes” is the answer.

5.The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it’s still on the list.

Learn To Cope With Early Failures

www.selfalot.comDaily Quote: Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure.” Napoleon Hill

The beginning is always difficult. Whatever you start doing from new and especially if it is a goal you have set yourself that you have never tried before, the early stages will be awkward and hard to work through.

Have you ever listened to somebody try their hand at playing a violin? This is probably the most difficult instrument to try to play. Any instrument where there is an invisible point at which the note is played, such as a violin that does not have the frets that a guitar has, will give the learner some horrific sounds to start off with.

Hard Work And More Hard Work

if-you-build-it-they-will-comeDaily Quote: I’m a great believer in luck and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it. Thomas Jefferson

In an interesting book by Malcolm Gladwell called Outliers, he makes the point over and over again that the people or groups of people who really make it put in at least 10 000 hours of work before they are remotely near becoming successful.

As an example Gladwell talks about the Beatles. The Beatles were a fairly mediocre band from Liverpool who played in quite small venues. They ended up going across to Hamburg to play there because they found more girls were interested in them and they could get drunk every night. Important requirement for young men.

The Pain Is Now But The Success Is Forever

www.selfalot.comDaily Quote: “The person who gets the farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore.” Dale Carnegie

These are the thoughts of a world class athlete competing at the highest level. This is especially true for endurance races such as the Tour de France where the pain threshold of every competitor is tested every day over 23 days.

Every day the cyclists pick themselves up again and start the painful journey again for the day. Their focus is on the fact that the pain will be short lived but the victory if they win will be for ever.

Nothing Beats Practice

www.selfalot.comDaily Quote: “It’s not necessarily the amount of time you spend at practice that counts: it’s what you put into the practice.” Eric Lindros

All things being equal whether talent, intelligence, creativity, ability or inclination the one thing that distinguishes people is the amount of practising they do. A football player will have similar talent to other players. What gets him to play for the big clubs and his national side is his dedication to practice.

The same applies to all aspects of your life. What will distinguish you from others in your field will be the amount of dedication you have towards making yourself expert in that area by practising at it.

High Effort And Low Attachment

www.selfalot.comDaily Quote: “The stars, I see, will kiss the valleys first: The odds for high and low’s alike” William Shakespeare.

This statement may sound contradictory. However, taking this concept to heart could be a very good move. What it means is that you put a huge amount of effort into pursuing your goal and then let it do it’s own thing. It’s a bit like nurturing a good roast in the oven.

The reason for this sound bit of advice is that you do not always have control over the outcome. You might push a major energy blast into part of your success plan and find it gets you to somewhere totally different to where you thought it would.

Be Willing To Do What It Takes

6a00e5517aecc28833010534aa2914970c-800wiDaily Quote: “The person who gets the farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore.” Dale Carnegie

You’ve set your goals, made your plans and are now ready to roll towards your dream. Are you really willing to do what it takes? Will you put everything on the line to achieve your dream or will you give up because in the end the sacrifice was too much?

Many sports people are prime examples of this principle. The winners are the ones who have sacrificed everything. The Tiger Woods of this world gave up their youth to spend on the golf course. The Williams sister gave up their childhood to play tennis.

Take A Leap Of Faith

euphoria_leap_of_faithDaily Quote: “He who loses money, loses much; He who loses a friend, loses much more, He who loses faith, loses all.” Eleanor Roosevelt

The concept of taking a leap of faith is a powerful one. It’s not an easy action to take mainly because we spend our lives being fearful of what the future might hold. We are fearful of so many ordinary things during our lives. How much more do we fear then when we take a leap of faith?

When we plan our goals and work towards succeeding in them we look at options and work out how we are going to achieve them. We ask ourselves what we need to do to reach them.

Reduce Your Risk To Reduce Your Fear

jumpingDaily Quote: “Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity. They seem to be more afraid of life than death.” James F. Bymes

If a fear is so overpowering that it paralyses you then scale down your risk. Whatever it is that is creating such fear in your mind, chop it down to smaller steps. You want to set yourself tasks that you can manage. That does not mean that all fear will disappear, but it will mean that you will be able to overcome the smaller fears.

Reducing your tasks that are so frightening works hand in hand with your goal setting. When identifying your goals you will also want to ensure that you have set them down to be manageable. That is you have identified the many small steps you need to take in order to reach those goals.
