Daily Quote – “I’ve found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck, take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often.” Brian Tracy
Many people never get past their paper based planning of what they want to achieve in life. Their successes stay firmly rooted on paper and never see the light of day. If this has happened to you, be aware that you are not alone in this.
So why did you never reach your goals? You never had the courage or the energy to move past the planning stage. Successful people do more and plan less. They do not wait for the right moment to get going.
Successful people don’t wait until the end of a recession to start their dream business. They don’t wait until the summer to start their swimming program. They don’t wait until they have a flawless resume before they start applying for jobs. They just do it.
So what are we, the unsuccessful, waiting for? Are we waiting for the perfect moment, or the right amount of inspiration. Do we need permission from someone else to become successful or are we waiting for our partners or families to reassure us?
Do we think a successful partnership will happen if somebody else changes, or do we wait for the right person to come along. Have you sat at home not wanting to start that small business because you were waiting for your kids to grow up?
Or maybe you were waiting for a better horoscope reading, the planets to be in the right constellation. You were hoping the laws would change, or that somebody would spot your talent, head hunt you or notice your exceptional skills.
Maybe you were even waiting for somebody to pass on clear instructions or you were hoping as you got older that you would develop more self-confidence. And most probably you were waiting until everybody thought you were great and nobody would laugh at your attempts at getting a better job or whatever your goal was.
All of these points are an indication that you are scared to take this new step. You are frightened that you will not achieve your goal. You worry that people will critcise you. You carry around with you a huge number of limiting beliefs that stop you from taking any action whatsoever.
No action means you will get nowhere and definitely will not reach your goal. Yet taking some form of action, even if a very tiny step could lead you to having the courage to take the next one.
You could find that the first step is a tiny success story on its own. Just getting a better suit of clothing for your job could get you the first small sign of appreciation and praise from your boss. You could get noticed and end up being offered the opportunity of taking more responsibility in your job.
Not only will this one small step bring you some action with results even if small, it could mean that the momentum has started and the environment starts to support your effort. It could also mean that you take courage and find it easier to take the next step. Whatever the result, take that first step. Make the first move. Just alone taking action will give you a boost that can carry you much further than you might think is possible.

I guess it’s an understatement to say the first step is the hardest, but it’s true. Taking action is often the biggest stumbling block for anyone.

Hi Annaly,
I think we make it hard to take the first step for some reasons and fear is the number one, fear of failure for instance. Take the first step and doors will open. Thanks for passing by again and leaving a comment.
Take care and cheers.

Reminds me of new year resolution where much planning is made at the start of the year and nothing much done for the rest of the 12 months . No Action Talk Only.
